News - Dumpling vinyl

A delicious mini dumpling vinyl series cooked up by Shawnimals, myplasticheart & Squibbles Ink

Not to mention blank DIY versions unveiled at 2011 San Diego Comic Con

07/19/11 - Chicago, IL - Shawnimals is excited to work with myplasticheart again on an upcoming Pocket Pork dumpling mini vinyl series, debuting as a DIY preview release available at SDCC in the Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi booth (no. 4736). There are two DIY variants: One with eyes, one without, each priced at $7 each (tax included) in a labeled take-out (blind) box.

Shawnimal, the man behind this sweet dumpling, and many more creatures will be on hand at the following times for signings. So snatch up a DIY blank and bring it by for a signature and a doodle:

  • Kidrobot - Friday July 22nd - 4pm to 6pm - booth 4529
  • Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi - Saturday July 23rd - 1pm to 2pm - booth 4736

What's in the series? And when will it be here!?
The first series will consist of some 12 to 16 designs (final number to be determined) in a blind boxed assortment - in a take-out style box, to boot. Designs will be a mix of classic styles found in past plush series, along with many new designs never seen before. Final MSRP is still being determined, while a release will be some time later this year.

Pocket Porks? What's that...?
The series, based on the Shawnimals dumpling character known as Wee Sticker, began years ago with something that few - if any - tried before: A mini plush, handmade blind boxed series. Shawnimals and myplasticheart teamed up for this special release in-store and online, and it sold out in minutes. The second series did the same, as did subsequent releases. But alas, these were limited, and not everyone got what they wanted. Pocket Pork dumpling mini vinyl were born from this, and from a love of making cute if not weird food-based characters.

Who is Squibbles Ink?
A vinyl series was a no-brainer, but getting a series together is never an easy challenge, especially when self-produced. Enter: Squibbles Ink, and its mastermind Joe Somers to the rescue. Squibbles Ink is responsible for all of the Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi products like Marshalls, Ninjatown Micro Plush and Zipper Charms, not to mention the Lake Monsters series. Squibbles Ink and myplasticheart (via MPHLabs) are the producers of this vinyl series.

Sweet jeebus. If the price of the series turns out to be 7 dollars, I'm going to throw all my money at your face.

I'm glad you did this, as I'll finally be able to get a Wee Sticker at a cheaper price.

Also, why is the vinyl dumpling called Wee Sticker?

It called a wee sticker cus if you buy dumplings at like Costco they say pot stickers on the box cus there sticky.

Hmph! I had no idea that another word for "dumpling" was "sticker". Makes sense though. Thanks
