Plot Twist Mini Bus Mural
A full exterior mural for a mobile bookmobile version of Plot Twist Used Books, a woman-owned used bookstore on Chicago's Northwest Side. The concept started with a site visit and was developed digitally on an iPad, then transferred onto the bus at 1:1 scale using a Meta Quest headset and Stencil VR, before being painted with MTN94 spray paint. The bus is wrapped in a cast of book-loving characters and clouds, with a "Read More Books" message across the hood. It debuted at the Portage Park Farmers Market and now travels to community events across Chicago, bringing books to readers young and old.
Rosemont in Bloom
An 8-foot rose sculpture created for the Village of Rosemont, a Chicago suburb, as part of its "Rosemont in Bloom" public art initiative. The piece grew out of a question: what actually allows something to bloom and thrive? My answer was community — the diversity of a community is the foundation beneath the flower, not incidental to it. The rose's two faces share a sense of happiness and togetherness, with a touch of humility in the one on the right. At the base, a diverse cast of smaller characters in a wide range of shapes, colors, and expressions stand in for that community, holding the bloom up from below.
Stronger Together
"Stronger Together," a 3-by-3-foot community coloring painting created for Flavors of Albany Park, an annual event hosted by the North River Commission (NRC), a community organization in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood. The piece is adapted from my mural "We Are Albany Park," at Lawrence and Kimball Avenues, reworked into a black-and-white outline for event attendees to color in live. Afterward, I brought the piece back to my studio to clean up and repaint the outlines, turning the community's contributions into a finished work now displayed at the NRC office, with prints being sold to raise funds for the NRC.
